On the first Sunday of every month I stand outside the church before the 9.30am Mass collecting forms and welcoming parents who wish to have their babies (or toddlers) baptised.
Their names are announced at the end of Mass and then afterwards we walk across to the presbytery. I prepare refreshments and chat to the parents for a few minutes. It is a great opportunity to meet different parishioners, various families and their friends.
Fr. Robert does all of the teaching and formal preparation. I have the joy of reading stories or playing with blocks with the toddlers and older siblings. Sometimes we talk about God and other times we just eat biscuits and play. Assisting with the Baptismal program is fun, and tremendously rewarding.
